Gokundi Waterfall Trek
Overview
Gokundi is one of the more offbeat monsoon waterfalls in the Nashik district — hidden in damp deciduous forest about 180 km from Mumbai, well away from the crowded weekend forts. Unlike a roadside fall, getting here is the point. The trail starts from the tiny base village of Falyan and drops into the green hinterland, hopping shallow streams and mossy boulders before a slender waterfall spills into a rock-ringed pool. It is short on distance but big on atmosphere — typically 8–10 km round trip and 4–6 hours including photo stops, with no technical climbing.
The trek is rated Moderate and needs only basic fitness, which makes it a great first monsoon waterfall trek. The forest permit is included in the price, and our local Nashik guide sets the pace, points out the best pool-side spots, and keeps an eye on the stream levels. The falls flow at their peak through the monsoon (July–September), and early October still holds good flow with clearer trails — the cascade is seasonal, so in summer the water thins out and the walk feels longer.
Unlike some look-don't-swim falls, Gokundi has a natural plunge pool that is ideal for a dip after the trek — but only when the current is calm and your guide gives the go-ahead. Carry 2 litres of water, waterproof shoes, quick-dry clothing, a towel and insect repellent; pack a change of clothes because a waterfall trek means you will get wet.
Mumbai batches depart the night before (10:45 pm pickups from Dadar, Vile Parle, Andheri and Borivali) and drive up the Mumbai–Nashik highway; Pune batches leave early morning from Pune Railway Station, FC Road, Wakad and Pimple Saudagar. We reach the base village mid-morning, trek in, spend the day at the falls, and return to the city the same day. Travellers already in the Nashik area can join directly at the base village.
Based in Nashik, this moderate 1-day trek is best attempted during July, August, September, October — when the trail and surroundings are at their most rewarding.

FAQs
How do I book the Gokundi Waterfall Trek?
Book directly through our website or contact us via WhatsApp. Confirm your participation at least 24 hours in advance to secure your spot.
Is this trek suitable for beginners?
Yes — Gokundi is rated Moderate and is a great first monsoon waterfall trek. It covers 8–10 km over 4–6 hours with no technical climbing; only basic fitness and sure footing on stream crossings are needed.
Where is Gokundi Waterfall and how do I reach it?
Gokundi Waterfall is near Nashik in Maharashtra, about 180 km from Mumbai and 220 km from Pune. We run overnight pickups from Mumbai (Dadar, Vile Parle, Andheri, Borivali) and early-morning pickups from Pune (Railway Station, FC Road, Wakad, Pimple Saudagar) to the Falyan base village. Travellers in the Nashik area can join at the base village.
What is the best time to visit Gokundi Waterfall?
The monsoon (July–September) is when the waterfall is at its fullest and the forest is at its greenest. Early October still has good flow with clearer trails. Avoid peak summer, when the cascade can thin out or run dry.
What should I pack for the trek?
Carry a raincoat, waterproof shoes with good grip, 2 litres of water, energy snacks, a small towel and a daypack, plus a change of clothes — a waterfall trek means you will get wet. Avoid leather items as monsoon moisture can damage them.
Are permits included in the trek package?
Yes — the forest entry permit and all local body charges are covered in the trek price. No additional paperwork or fees are required from participants.
Can we swim at the waterfall?
Gokundi has a natural plunge pool that is ideal for a dip, but only when the current is calm and your guide gives the go-ahead. Swimming is never allowed during heavy flow or on stormy days.
Is alcohol or drugs allowed on the trek?
No, consumption of alcohol, drugs, or any intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited during the trek for safety and environmental reasons.
