FAQs
How difficult is the Tikona Fort trek?
Tikona is a moderate trek. The trail is about 4 km one way with a steady climb, including one short but fun rock-scramble section near the top. Beginners with basic fitness can complete it comfortably.
How long does the Tikona Fort trek take?
The complete round trip takes about 3.5–4 hours, including summit time and a lunch break. Combined with the drive from Mumbai, the full day is roughly 6:00 am to 6:30 pm.
Is Tikona Fort trek suitable for beginners?
Yes. While it's a bit more demanding than fort treks like Karnala or Lohagad, Tikona is a great next step for beginners who have done one or two easy treks. The scramble section is short and safe with a guide.
What is the best time to trek Tikona Fort?
October to March is ideal — clear skies, pleasant temperatures and great views of Pawna Lake. Monsoon (June–September) turns the fort lush green but the rocks become slippery and the path muddy.
Can I combine Tikona Fort with other nearby treks?
Yes! Tikona is close to Tung Fort, Lohagad, Visapur and Pawna Lake camping. Many trekkers club Tikona with a Pawna lakeside camping night or visit Lohagad the same weekend.
