Tadoba Tiger Safari from Mumbai
Overview
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is Maharashtra's oldest and largest national park, home to the highest density of Bengal tigers in India. Spread across dense teak forests, bamboo groves, and serene lakes, Tadoba offers some of the most reliable tiger sightings in the country.
This 3-day trip from Mumbai takes you into the heart of the reserve through guided jungle safaris in open 4×4 gypsies. Beyond tigers, Tadoba is rich in wildlife — leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs (dholes), gaurs, sambar deer, and over 270 bird species.
We stay at a comfortable jungle resort near the park, with early morning and late afternoon safaris timed for the best wildlife activity. Between safaris, enjoy village walks, bonfire evenings, and the calm of the Maharashtrian countryside. The trip departs from Mumbai by overnight train to Chandrapur, with a short road transfer to the park.
Based in Maharashtra, this easy 3-day trek is best attempted during October, November, December, January, February, March — when the trail and surroundings are at their most rewarding.

FAQs
How do I reach Tadoba from Mumbai?
We travel by overnight train from Mumbai CST to Chandrapur, followed by a 45-minute drive to the jungle resort near Tadoba's Moharli or Kolsa gate. Train details are shared after booking. Return is via the same route on day 3.
What are the chances of seeing a tiger?
Tadoba has the highest tiger density in India — sightings occur on over 80% of safaris. Your naturalist guide tracks pugmarks and alarm calls to position the vehicle for the best views. Early morning safaris (5:30 AM) offer the highest success rate.
Is the safari safe?
Yes. All safaris are conducted in open 4×4 gypsies with an experienced driver and a Forest Department-approved naturalist guide. The animals are wild but the vehicles stay on designated trails and maintain a safe distance. Following the guide's instructions ensures a completely safe experience.
What should I wear on the safari?
Neutral-coloured clothing — green, beige, khaki, or brown. Avoid bright colours (red, yellow, white) and strong perfumes. Comfortable closed shoes, a hat, and sunglasses are recommended. Winters (Nov-Feb) can be chilly in the early morning — carry a light jacket.
Can I bring children on this trip?
Yes, children aged 6 and above are welcome. The resort is family-friendly with a pool and outdoor space. However, safaris require sitting still and staying quiet for 3+ hours, so younger children might find it challenging.
