Gokarna Hampi Trip

4.6 (6 reviews)

Overview

This 4-day trip flips the classic Karnataka circuit — beaches first, history second. Start on Gokarna's crescent shores: walk the beach trail from Kudle to Om, boat out to the hidden Half Moon and Paradise beaches, and visit the Mahabaleshwar Temple. Then drive inland to Hampi, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Vijayanagara Empire, with its boulder-strewn ruins, the iconic Stone Chariot and sunset views from Hemakuta Hill. Same highlights as our Hampi & Gokarna trip, in the opposite order.

The first half of the trip is pure coastal relaxation. Gokarna is a temple town that keeps its laid-back character, and the beaches that radiate from it — Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise — are among the quietest on the west coast. Days are spent swimming, kayaking, walking the trail between beaches or simply unwinding on the sand, with the Mahabaleshwar Temple and Main Beach rounding out the afternoons.

The second half is a journey back in time. Hampi was the capital of the mighty Vijayanagara Empire, and its ruins sprawl across a surreal landscape of giant granite boulders beside the Tungabhadra river. A full day there covers the Vittala Temple and its Stone Chariot, the Lotus Mahal, the Elephant Stables, the Royal Enclosure and a coracle ride across the river, with sunrise from Matanga Hill to start the day. October to March is the ideal window for the Gokarna Hampi Trip — warm beach days and cool nights — and departures run from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Hubli, with transfers, stays, entries and a guide all included.

Based in Karnataka, this easy 4-day trek is best attempted during October, November, December, January, February, March — when the trail and surroundings are at their most rewarding.

FAQs

How far is Hampi from Mumbai?

By road it is ~750 km, but we fly into Hubli (1.5 hrs) and drive 3 hrs to Hampi — the trip is designed to maximize time on the ground.

What is the best time for this trip?

Oct–Mar offers pleasant weather — warm beach days and cool nights, making it the ideal season for the Gokarna Hampi Trip. Monsoon (Jun–Sep) makes the coast lush but the beaches unsafe for swimming.

Is rafting safe for beginners?

Yes — our sessions are guided by certified rafting professionals with safety kayaks and mandatory life jackets. First-timers are welcome; you just need to be comfortable in water.
