Devkund Waterfall Trek
Overview
Devkund Waterfall is one of the most beautiful monsoon waterfalls in Maharashtra, hidden deep in the forests of the Malshej Ghat region near Bhaje village. Unlike roadside waterfalls, Devkund requires a short trek through dense forest, crossing a stream and walking along a valley before you hear the roar of the falls — and then you step into a clearing and see the 3-tier cascade plunging into a brilliant emerald pool below.
The trek to Devkund is a 3–4 km walk each way through monsoon forest, with patches of sunlight filtering through the canopy and the sound of the stream accompanying you most of the way. The trail is flat to gently undulating, making it accessible to beginners and casual nature lovers. The pool at the base of the falls is deep enough for a swim (life jackets provided), and the surrounding rock ledges are perfect for sitting back and taking in the scene.
Departing from Mumbai early morning, we drive to the base village of Bhaje (about 2.5 hours), trek to the waterfall, spend time swimming and relaxing, have a packed lunch by the pool, and trek back. We return to Mumbai by late evening.
This trip runs only in the monsoon and immediate post-monsoon months (June to October), when the waterfall is in full flow and the forest is at its greenest. It is perfect for photographers, first-time trekkers, and anyone looking for a quick one-day escape into the Sahyadri rainforest.
Based in Malshej Ghat, this easy 1-day trek is best attempted during June, July, August, September, October — when the trail and surroundings are at their most rewarding.
