Kelshi to Ladghar Beach Trek

4.7 (12 reviews)

Overview

The Kelshi to Ladghar beach trek is a hidden gem on the Konkan coast near Dapoli. Over two days you walk a mix of soft golden sand, rocky headlands and shady coconut-grove trails connecting five quiet beaches, with the Arabian Sea on one side and palm-fringed villages on the other. A mellow, scenic coastal trek with a campfire night on the beach — perfect for beach-lovers who want more than a lazy stay.

The Konkan coastline that this trek follows is one of Maharashtra's most unspoiled stretches — a land of fishing villages, cashew and alphonso mango orchards, coconut palms and centuries-old temples. Dapoli, the nearest town, is known as 'Mini Mahabaleshwar' for its sea views and laid-back vibe, while the beaches along this route are famous for being far quieter than the crowded shores closer to Mumbai. The trek's pace is deliberately relaxed, built around swimming stops, photography breaks and unhurried village walks rather than covering distance at speed.

Each of the five beaches on the route has its own character — Kelshi's working fishing village, Anjarle's gentle bay and temple-lined shore, and Ladghar's wide, open sands that mark the trek's finish. Nights are spent camping on the beach under the stars, with a bonfire, and meals feature the fresh seafood and homely Konkani cooking the region is loved for. The trek departs from Mumbai and is best done between October and March, when the sea is calm and the skies are clear.

Based in Dapoli, this moderate 2-day trek is best attempted during October, November, December, January, February, March — when the trail and surroundings are at their most rewarding.
