**Kalsubai** — at 1,646 m (5,400 ft) — is the highest peak in Maharashtra. Located in the Bhandardara region of the Sahyadris, this iconic summit draws trekkers from across the state who want to stand on the roof of Maharashtra. FAQs
Is Kalsubai harder than Rajgad?
Yes — Kalsubai has a steeper overall gradient and those iron ladders make it more challenging. It's considered the toughest of the "easy-access" Sahyadri treks.
Can you do Kalsubai in monsoon?
It's possible but very slippery on the ladders. Post-monsoon (Oct–Nov) offers the best views with minimal fog.
What is the best time to start?
A night start (2–3 AM) gets you to the summit for sunrise — the most popular and rewarding option. Day treks are also possible but can get hot.
